LEWISTON – The next speakers in the Lewiston Council on the Arts’ Discovery Series are Timm and Helen Herman, the owners of Sugartown Farms, who will speak on the business of raising alpacas in a presentation at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Historic Opera Hall, 732 Center St.

Their presentation will help the audience to discover the history of the alpaca, the investment, husbandry and care of the animals and how to sell alpaca products.

Sugartown Farms and Homestead covers 15 acres in Ellicottville.

The Hermans will talk about how they have grown from three alpaca females to a herd of 40.

Samples of alpaca yarn and finished woven products will be on display and available for sale.

There may even be a real alpaca visiting at the Historic Opera Hall.

Refreshments will be available.

Reservations are not required, but seating is limited.

The program is free to art council members and $5 for nonmembers.
