LOCKPORT – A short jail sentence, probation and a fine comprised the sentence Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas imposed Monday on a Polish citizen living in Lockport, who had pleaded guilty to a felony count of driving while intoxicated.
Mariusz Swider, 37, of Sunnyside Street, was placed on five years’ probation, but must serve the first six months in the County Jail. He also was fined $2,500.
Swider was arrested Aug. 3, 2012, in the City of Lockport and Sept. 14 in the Town of Lockport. In the first incident, Swider’s car ran off the road, and he was ordered to pay the homeowner $750 for lawn damage. Originally, the tab was $1,500, but Deputy District Attorney Theodore A. Brenner reduced it Monday.
