PORTER – State environmental regulators have renewed CWM Chemical Services’ hazardous waste landfill permit.
The move by the Department of Environmental Conservation formalizes the agency’s November decision to grant tentative approval of the permit for the company’s existing landfill.
CWM still has a pending application before the state to expand its operations by building a new hazardous waste landfill at its Balmer Road site.
CWM’s last landfill permit was issued by the state in 2005 and formally expired in 2010. Operations have been allowed to continue as a permit decision was awaited.
