LEWISTON – Today is the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Power Vista, the free visitor center at the Niagara Power Project.

The New York Power Authority is marking the occasion by collecting visitors’ signatures on a special greeting card to be buried in a Power Vista time capsule later this year.

The Power Authority expects the 7 millionth visitor to come through the Power Vista during the upcoming anniversary observance, during which it will offer buttons reading “I’m 1 in 7 million” to guests.

The Power Vista, 5777 Lewiston Road, offers more than 50 exhibits about the production of hydroelectric power and local history, and offers views from an observation deck 350 feet above the Niagara River Gorge.
