NIAGARA FALLS – The benefits of breastfeeding babies will be touted at a free community picnic starting at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in Hyde Park. It’s sponsored by Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center’s Community Health Worker Program and the Healthy Moms – Healthy Babies Coalition, and is open to all pregnant and recent mothers, their babies and their families.
After registration at the park’s wading pool, a one-mile Breastfeeding Walk led by the Niagara County Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program will begin at 11 a.m. It will be followed by a picnic and baby shower sponsored by the March of Dimes and the Healthy Families Niagara program of Family & Children’s Service of Niagara.
The first 50 people to register will receive giveaways from participating agencies and an opportunity to win baby items. The Police Department’s Traffic Safety Division will be on hand to conduct car seat safety checks.
In case of rain, the event will be held in the Oasis Shelter in Hyde Park.
