LOCKPORT – The application deadline is April 29 for the $2,000-a-year college scholarships offered by the Rotary Club of Lockport to high school seniors living in the Lockport, Starpoint or Newfane school districts, even if they attend a private or parochial school.
Four academic scholarships are being offered: one for four years, one for three years, one for two years and one for one year. Also, one vocational scholarship is available, offering $2,000 per year for one or two years, depending on the program.
Application forms are available at the high school guidance offices and online at www.lockportrotary.com.
Selection criteria include character, scholastic achievement, performance in college entrance tests, extracurricular high school and community activities, acceptance at an approved college and an interview with the Scholarship Committee.
While financial need is not a criterion for selection, a viable plan to meet overall college expenses must be provided in the application.
