WHEATFIELD – Cast-iron caps and valve-box lids from several fire hydrants in the 6000 block of Nash Road were stolen over the weekend, authorities said.
Wheatfield Water Department Supervisor Richard A. Donner told Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies Monday that four red caps, four yellow caps and blue valve box lids were taken between 3 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Monday. The loss was placed at $667, Donner said.
Deputies said they would check scrapyards for the missing items.
