The Niagara River Greenway Commission is seeking public comment on four projects that have applied for Greenway funding.

The Buffalo Lighthouse Association is seeking $825,000 to renovate the 110-year-old South Entrance Light at Stony Point Breakwater in Buffalo Harbor. The association said saving that lighthouse, when combined with its nearly complete restoration of the 1833 lighthouse at the north end of the harbor, would provide “bookends” for outer harbor redevelopment.

The $2.27 million West River Connector Trail, sought by state parks and the Town of Grand Island, would create an eight-mile multipurpose trail on state-owned land connecting Beaver Island and Buckhorn Island state parks, alongside West River Parkway.

The Niagara River Yacht Club of North Tonawanda is requesting $192,000 for shoreline stabilization and native habitat plantings along 300 feet of riverfront. It also would include a small public rest area and overlook for bikers and walkers on club land.

The Town of Newfane is seeking $118,460 toward a $131,292 resurfacing of the east pier at Olcott Beach and rebuilding of the beach wall.

Comments are due by Aug. 31 at www.niagaragreenway.org or by mail to the commission offices, 2136 W. Oakfield Road, Grand Island, N.Y. 14072.
