CAMBRIA – For the second consecutive year, Niagara County is seeking $1.7 million in grants to pay for the construction of a entrance road, sanitary sewer and pumping station at the Cambria Technology Park.
The privately owned, 152-acre property on Lockport Road, which is currently a farm field, has been designated for future development as a “shovel-ready” sight suitable for high technology projects. HSBC Bank once planned to construct a data center on part of the land there, but dropped the notion in 2007.
The County Legislature’s Economic Development Committee voted last week to apply for half of the project cost from the state Regional Economic Development Council and the other half from the federal Economic Development Administration. A similar request last year was not funded.
