Five Buffalo-area school districts listed as purchasing Farm Rich food products for their student cafeterias reported Wednesday that the items are no longer being served and have been eliminated from their inventories. Rich Products Corp. has recalled frozen pizza, quesadillas, mozzarella bites and other snacks because of possible E. coli contamination.

The schools are Akron Central, Amherst Central, Depew, Frontier Central in Hamburg and Sweet Home Central in Amherst.

A statement posted on the Depew school website said seven cases of Pizzata pizza pockets from Rich Products were destroyed, and none has been ordered this year.

Frontier said it had purchased none of the recalled products this year and added, “A very popular item on our menu, breaded mozzarella stix, is NOT part of their recall list and we will continue to offer this item as a lunch choice.”

Sweet Home reported on its website that school lunch director Sandra Cocca and her staff found nine cases of Pizza Dippers that were ordered last year and destroyed them, adding that they have not been served recently because they do not meet federal nutrition guidelines.
